Ode to Terrific Maps
by Joshua
oh, terrific maps
all you different
kinds of compass
roses, and your deserts,
wetlands, oceans and
mountains. when I
look at you I always
get my
eyes glued to Kansas City, Kansas.
When I am looking
for something and I can't
find it, I
. .get
. .very
. .stressed
. .out!
all your little blue cracks showing
us the rivers
of the world.
all your tiny words that
mark the cities. after a while
people think you are a bore, but
I stare at you some more!!
Oh, terrific maps!!!

Ode to the Orange Charmer

Entwined in thickets, timber, and twigs,
Lay an arrangement of marvelous sprigs.
And interwoven are the birds that feed
On that radiant, firethorn bead
Of sun-kissed citrus and golden-glow hues,
Why, even the bumblebees forage their juice.
And interwoven am I, in this pome-like berry;
Hand-picked and wreathed or crushed into jelly,
I’ve become a regular Rosales farmer –
Mesmerized, by the brilliant Orange Charmer.

An ode to chocolate
by Sayuri
Oh chocolate,
how you melt
down my tongue,
and the finger
licking good taste
and how you make me giggle as I chew you up.

You are awesome,
amazing and sugary
too, until you make my tummy ache, but
I will still eat you.
Oh, and all those
chocolate bars, Hershey
twix, and KitKat, you
so sweet and that
is great about you.

The fun, the laughs
for when I eat
that creamy taste
I like you dark chocolate
and milk chocolate too.
You're crunchy, you're yummy
and delicious. Oh and that brown soft color that
makes me want to have
you, so sugary, but

in the end
you make me feel sick but
so what, I
will eat you
to tiny bits.

Blue,
Green,
Yellow,
Orange,
So many colors!
Turning my hand
Into a rainbow
The longer I hold you.

1, 2, 3, 4
Go into my mouth
And roll around,
Dancing across my tongue.
Oh how sweet you taste,
Your candy coating
Slowly falling off,
And the chocolate melting.

So sugary,
So scrumptious,
So delicious,
I can’t take it anymore!
I keep eating,
And consuming,
Until all that’s left
Is your rainbow on my hand.

Ode to Blue
by Daniel

Blue, oh blue,
You’re blue whales and
Ocean waves
Splashing across my face on a
Hot summer day or a
Beach blanket on the sand.
You are the waves that
Carry my imaginary boat
Across the world and
The sky where
Birds call home.
Picasso’s blue period
Was painted mostly with
You!

You make me feel
Cool and calm and peaceful or like I’m
At the beach. You are
An important color in
My life. Many things
In my house are
Blue! My room is
Blue too!

How come you come in so many shades
But you’re always still blue? Why are you so…
I don’t know… blue?

Blue, oh blue…
why are you called blue?

Ode to Soda
by Andrew K.

Cola
Citrus it doesn’t
Matter
Give me any
Kind of soda
Diet I suppose
It will do
The best flavored one
Is diet mountain dew
Rot your teeth
That’s okay
With age you will lose them
Anyway
I drink lots of
Soda everyday
Chugging 2 liters
Don’t stain my beater
I could use more but
Coke and Pepsi are not
The same
But I would take them
Both over water
It’s just too plain

Ode to Spyro
by Zach
Spyro, you are
so graceful as you glide through
The air and dive
into the water. Your breath
warms me unlike other fires. I
love the way you help
your friends to safety.
Spyro
why can’t you
come and play with
ME???

Ode to Sleep

Oh Sleep
Under the protection of the cover
The warmth of your body
Let your eyes get heavy
Let it creep
Count the sheep
1, 2, 3, Z

Dream
Let your mind wander
Travel
Fly
Fight
Swim
Cry
Love
Let your mind go free
Sleep
Until that awful beep
snooze
beep
snooze
beep
snooze
beep

Awake to the bright sun
Begin your day
Only to re-enter sleep
Till that awful beep.
